Outcomes
How did the training impact on your role within the company?
‘The training has helped me in areas where I never put thought into before.’
‘It shored up my confidence to push others to get back to me with anything I’ve requested, and given me techniques to use when information or assistance isn’t forthcoming.’
‘Gave me more confidence to apply for the promotion, and probably helped me achieve it.’
‘It has taught me methods of efficiently reaching our goals.’
‘It has made me more aware on the impact that we have on the site teams and therefore the company performance. If we can improve the way, we manage our tasks and influence then the whole company can benefit.’
‘It has made me reflect on my role and made me realise techniques and weaknesses to work on. As well as different ideas to help motivate the team.’
What topic had the biggest impact on your role & why?
‘Mentoring, as a manger it is important to work with and better my team.’
‘All have been interesting, but the setting and managing goals was particularly helpful.’
‘Understanding conflict as it has been an issue onsite.’
‘Planning and allocating work had the biggest impact, the method of setting smart objectives, planning, implementing and reviewing was a really useful process.’
‘Smart objectives was really useful, and it help me create a task for others to follow. I can then hand the task over and concentrate on managing the project.’
‘Planning and allocating work – we are quite good at this I feel but we could be better and some of the techniques covered in the course should allow us to carry this out more efficiently.’
How did the company benefit from your participation on this course in your opinion?
‘I think this course has been very helpful to our staff who are new to Management, or who have been promoted into roles due to their technical skills but haven’t had access to managerial training.’
‘It has made me be a better manager than I would be without it.’
‘I think Cooke Aquaculture will benefit as the course has provided me with the tools and knowledge for me to do my job in a more professional and understanding way.’
‘I can put my new skills into practice and therefore the company wins because I am a more strategic, effective manager.’
‘I feel the course has boosted my confidence in me and what I know. So I now feel I can do my job better as I have more to give/teach/pass on as we carry out our tasks and assignments across the company. I feel the knowledge from the course will come out more constantly in how I work rather than a specific thing being better.
i.e. how I plan, do and generally work will be improved as the course knowledge filters through in how I work.’
‘It has made me reflect on my strengths and weaknesses and where and how I can improve as well as improving staff motivation and production.’
Would you recommend this course to others, and if so, why?
‘Yes, especially with Ian. The course is well structured and Ian is so approachable and I feel that all of us have and will benefit from this course.’
‘Yes I would recommend the course, even if people feel they know how to do their job with no issues that doesn’t mean it couldn’t be better. Even if only a couple of the units improve their working practices, then that is an improvement that benefits them, the company and the staff that they teach under them.’
‘Yes helps to improve managers and teams and helps you to understand how other managers in the company are working’
‘Yes of course I would. The benefits are well worth the effort.’
‘Yes, if you are new to Management and unfamiliar with the role and what it requires this course is very helpful to introduce you to core concepts and techniques that can be used daily as well as bigger picture ideas and planning for the future.’
‘Definitely, It gave understanding in areas I had never considered.’
